TypeIt is a free Malay editor that lets you write and edit documents in Malay. TypeIt supports five Malay keyboards: InScript (ISM), GIST, Malayalam Typewriter, Panchari, and VarietyPer Phonetic Keyboard Layout. The user interface is very simple and intuitive. Anyone familiar with the Windows operating system can use it. You can switch between Malay and English fonts by pressing the Caps Lock key. You can easily change keyboard layouts by pressing F2 for ISM, F3 for GIST, and F4 for Malayalam Typewriter. Another of its functions is to differentiate words. Summer! automatically separates words in your documents so that you can import them accurately into other applications. If you don't want hyphenation, you can disable it using the Hyphenation->Auto Hyphenation command in the Tools menu. Transferring written text to other applications is easy. This can be achieved in two ways. One way is to copy the typed text and paste it into another application like Word, PageMaker, Quark Express etc. You can also save the documents in RTF (Rich Text Format) format and import them into other applications. The default Malayalam font is ML-TTRevathi. You can change the font and font size using the SetFont command in the Format menu. You can convert documents to Unicode. Unicode is very useful if you use the Internet.
